US, PH Marines set sea drill off Palawan

At least 650 US Marines and sailors of the 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade (3d MEB), the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) based in Okinawa, Japan, and 740 officers and enlisted personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be participating in the 31st iteration of the Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise (Phiblex) 2016 from September 21 to October 9. COA orders Palawan gov’t to return P35M excess bonuses


MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Audit has ordered the provincial government of Palawan to return P35.338 million in unauthorized cash bonuses paid to local government officials and employees in 2013.

In the COA audit report released September, state auditors said the province violated a Department of Budget and Management (DBM) circular when it released performance enhancement incentives (PEI) worth P40,000 to all officials and regular employees of the province. Continue reading

PECR 5 awarding still possible this month, Energy dep’t says

introTHE AWARDING of new petroleum service contracts under the fifth Philippine Energy Contracting Round (PECR) could still take place within this month even if the recommendation for award has yet to be secured, Energy department officials said yesterday.

“We have already completed the evaluations of the applications. We will present the results on Thursday,” Rino E. Abad, director of the Energy department’s Energy Resource Development Bureau, said via phone.

Petilla joins Mimaropa health summit in Palawan


More than a hundred provincial health officers from the Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan (MIMAROPA) region converged in Puerto Princesa to discuss universal health care strategies.

With the theme “Universal health care high impact five strategy,” the conference was organized by the Department of Health and hosted by DOH MIMAROPA.
